Now another "worst case" has hit the StudiVZ community. Once you agreed to the new "Therms of use" (AGB) StudiVZ keeps track of you personal data even when you decide to leave the community. This is how I interpret chapter 3.3 of the new AGBs. But back to the personalised advertisemen. What does that mean for you? The interesting parts of your profile data will be analyzed for common habits and interests. Based on that data, StudiVZ is able to present "user profiles" to third party companies and make it more interesting for them to advertise on the platform, cause they know there advertisement will be seen by the target group, which is way more efficient than making general advertisement. "Okay, just one more banner to block with ${BROWSER}, not that bad, shut up and go home." [EDIT] After many complaints from the users, StudiVZ seems to have removed the IM an SMS passus from the AGBs [/EDIT] Why not invest the time and affords you put in the maintenance of your StudiVZ account in some free WebBLOG? Add a contact address and all your friends will be able to find you via ${SEARCHENGINE}. Activate the comment feature and you'll see, you don't need a buggy community platform like StudiVZ to keep in contact with your friends. By the way, did you read the entire AGB? I did and I am not even amember of this community. So go read AND _understand_ the content. Maybe you could start here: Werbung und persönliche Daten: neue AGB für StudiVZ |
